Oxidoreductases

Oxidoreductases (EC 1.) comprise the large class of enzymes that catalyze biological oxidation/reduction reactions. They play an important role in both aerobic and anaerobic metabolism.  They can be found in glycolysis, TCA cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, and in amino acid metabolism. Subcategories within this class of biological targets are created based the kind of acceptor molecules involved in the redox reaction they catalyze, and on and the nature of their substrates[1].
